Recent Advances in Stability and Failure Mechanisms of Landslide Dams

چکیده
Numerous landslide dams have been induced in recent years as a result of frequent earthquakes and extreme climate hazards. Landslide present serious threats to lives properties downstream due potentially breaching floods from the impounded lakes. To investigate factors influencing stability dams, large database has established based on an in-depth investigation 1,737 dam cases. The effects triggers, materials, geomorphic characteristics are comprehensively analyzed. Various evaluation indexes assessed this database, can be further improved by considering materials. Stability analyses aftershocks, surges, artificial engineering measures summarized. Overtopping seepage failures most common failure modes dams. processes mechanisms caused overtopping reviewed perspective model experiments numerical analyses. Finally, research gaps highlighted, pathways achieve more complete understanding suggested. This comprehensive review advances serve key reference for prediction emergency risk mitigation.

Review of mechanisms and recent advances in cancer photo thermal therapy
Abstract. Cancer is a major health problem all over the world. Photo thermal therapy (PTT) is a non-invasive method in cancer treatment. In PTT, the laser light usually in near-infra red region is absorbed and converted to heat in the cancerous tissue. The temperature above 40 ° C in PTT can induce some effects including irreversible damage to proteins, changes in enzyme struc...

This special issue of Geomorphology includes 14 papers dealing with landslides selected from two conferences of the International Association of Geomorphologists (IAG): the Regional Conference held in Brasov, Romania, in September 2008 and the Seventh International Conference celebrated in Melbourne, Australia, in July 2009. The Regional Conference, under the theme “Landslides, floods and globa...
متن کاملRecent Advances in Hemophilia Gene Therapy
Heterogeneous loss of function mutations at F8 and F9 genes causes X-linked recessive bleeding disorders, hemophilia A (HA) and hemophilia B (HB), respectively. HA is clinically indistinguishable from HB and accounts for more than 80% of hemophilia cases; the former affects 1/5000 and the latter 1/25000 male births worldwide. In Iran, it is estimated that around 4300 HA and 900 HB patients are ...

With the total cases and economic burden of heart failure continuing to rise, there is an overwhelming need for novel therapies. Several drugs for heart failure have succeeded in preclinical and early-phase clinical trials, but most of them failed to show the real benefit in pivotal clinical trials. Meanwhile, the US Food and Drug Administration recently approved two promising new drugs to trea...

Organophosphorous (OP) chemical warfare nerve agents mainly sarin and tabun were used during the Iran-Iraq war with high mortalities. In addition to atropine and oximes, the followings have recently been used successfully for the treatment of OP poisoning. 1. Sodium Bicarbonate: Infusion of high doses of sodium bicarbonate (5 mEq/kg in 60 min. followed by 5-6 mEq/kg/day to obtain arterial blood...
